I'm Nicole Lachele, a surrealist artist based in Southern Colorado. My artwork is a style of contemporary portraiture that combines elements of illustration, pop art, surrealism, and fantasy. It's meant to draw people into a metaphysical space where reality and imagination blur.
My passion for art stemmed at an early age from a love of anime, video games, and all things mythical and fantastical, upon realizing I myself could bring such imaginative worlds to life. I nurtured my passion for art throughout my school years into early adulthood.
I had always dreamed of an art career, but the challenges of pursuing it full-time during a difficult period led me to set my passion aside for nearly a decade, only creating for myself as a hobby. In my late twenties, however, I realized that creating art was essential to my well-being and returned to it full-time with renewed purpose.
In 2024, I began experimenting with watercolor, gouache, and acrylic, expanding in surrealist and fantasy styles. I aim to use my work to explore themes of resilience, transformation, and femininity. My work also often reflects my own inner conflicts and personal struggles.
